In addition to the obvious disharmony in esthetics associated with abnormal incisor position, anterior crossbites can result in excessive abrasion of the upper and lower incisors, destructive of the periodontium secondary to poor tooth positioning and traumatic occlusion, incisor crowding as arch integrity is compromised, possible functional disturbances with forward mandibular displacement, and potential disturbances in normal growth and development. Therefore it requires early and immediate treatment.
