Correcting or treating patient with under bite depends on the severity of the problem. The greater the severity, the more likely surgery is indicated. Although surgery is the most common form of treatment, many under bite patients can be correct without orthognathic surgery by either extraction of lower teeth, using temporary anchorage device to retract lower teeth, or both.

Patient has severe underbite and posterior crossbite. Orthodontic treatment with 4 bicuspid extraction to correct her crossbite. Facial profile improves significantly
