Loss of space in the primary or mixed dentition is considered one of the main causes of malocclusion in the permanent dentition. Therefore, it is very important to maintain these spaces for permanent teeth to erupt normally. There are different types of appliances used to maintain spaces such as band and loop, Nance or transpalatal bar, and lingual holding arch depend on each situation.
